Tampa`s library system is operated by the Tampa-Hillsborough Public Library System. THPLS operates 28 libraries throughout Tampa and Hillsborough County, including the John F. Germany Main Library in Downtown Tampa. The Tampa library system first started in the early 1900`s, with the West Tampa Library, which was made possible with the funds donated by Andrew Carnegie.

University of South Florida, is located in Tampa, inside close proximity to the city of Temple Terrace and Busch Gardens. The racial makeup of the city was 64.22% White (51.0% White Non-Hispanic), 26.07% Black or African US, 0.38% US Indian and Alaska Native, 2.15% Asian, 0.09% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, 4.17% from other races, and 2.92% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.29% of the populus.
